Hyderabad: Telangana Congress President B Mahesh Kumar Goud on Wednesday said the BJP’s losses in the MLC elections in Varanasi, Nagpur and Patna demonstrate the growing public dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government at the Centre.Referring to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent comments targeting PM Modi, he said the Congress defeated the BJP in Nagpur, the stronghold of the saffron party’s ‘baap’ RSS.

“Kharge ji recently said not only Modi, but Modi’s ‘baap’ (father) will also go. Has our bullet hit the BJP through the ballot in the stronghold of RSS, the ‘baap’ of BJP, or not?” asked Goud, while speaking to reporters here.
In Varanasi, represented by PM Modi in Lok Sabha, the educated electorate rejected Modi and elected the Samajwadi Party’s candidate, he said.
Responding to Modi’s taunt at the Congress party’s performance in the MLC elections, he asked how the PM is talking about Congress when the BJP candidate lost in Varanasi.
Goud claimed that the loss of the BJP candidate in Varanasi shows that people are fed up with Modi’s rule and want the INDIA bloc to come to power.
In Lucknow, represented by Lok Sabha MP and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Samajwadi Party candidate wrested the MLC seat from BJP, he said.
The Congress leader further said the RJD candidate won in Patna, the home of BJP National President Nitin Nabin.
According to Goud, the election results among youth and educated sections signal a shifting political mood and mounting opposition to the 13-year rule of Modi.
“Modi should own the BJP’s failures,” he said.
Goud also alleged that the South Central Railway (SCR), headquartered in Hyderabad, rejected special train bookings for Congress workers to travel to Delhi to attend the Congress rally against SIR on November 1 under pressure from either the PM’s office or the Union Home Minister’s office.
Though the SCR cited a shortage of time as the reason, the SCR had earlier provided a train within three days, he said. However, Telangana Congress will transport party workers to Delhi as per its target in buses, he added.
