Singing legend Bonnie Tyler has been woken from a coma, but the hitmaker is said to be ‘seriously ill’ and is still in hospital

Bonnie Tyler is “seriously ill” but no longer in a coma. The singer has been in hospital in Portugal after reportedly suffering a heart attack several weeks ago.

After undergoing surgery, Bonnie, 75, was placed into an induced coma following complications. But now, a spokesperson for the star has given a major update on her condition.

Bonnie’s representative said: “Bonnie is no longer in a coma, but remains seriously ill. Although her condition is improving, the recovery process is slow.”

However, while her recovery will take some time, doctors are hopeful that she will make a full recovery. In April, she was taken into the hospital after suffering from pains in her abdomen, not long after arriving in Portugal, where she has a second home.

But it was discovered that she had suffered from a tear in her bowel, which resulted in emergency surgery. However, weeks later, doctors were forced to put the Total Eclipse of The Heart hitmaker into an induced coma to aid her recovery.

It was reported that Bonnie went into cardiac arrest, which left doctors resuscitating her after they first attempted to wake her from the coma. At the time, her management team said: “We would like to thank everyone for the tremendous sympathy and support from around the world.”

All of Bonnie’s commitments until the end of August have now been cancelled.
