Jeremiah Profit, a four-star guard from Temecula, Calif. ranked No. 61 in the Class of 2027 by 247 Sports, announced his commitment to Northwestern on Tuesday on X, making him the highest-ranked commit in Northwestern Men’s Basketball history.
The 6-foot-5, 180-pound Rancho Christian senior chose the ‘Cats over Stanford, Saint Mary’s, Arizona State, Creighton and Boston College.
Profit, who is Northwestern’s first commit in the Class of 2027, is also ranked as a top-65 overall recruit by Rivals and a top-80 overall recruit by ESPN.

In an exclusive interview with Rivals, Profit went into details about his commitment to play for the ‘Cats, citing strong relationships he built with head coach Chris Collins and the rest of the NU coaching staff as a major factor in his decision.
“I really believe in what Coach Collins and the coaching staff are building, and I felt like I could come in and make an impact,” said Profit to Rivals. “I believe in the plan they have for me and the direction the program is going. Northwestern also gives me the opportunity to compete at the highest level in the Big Ten while getting a great education.”
The lengthy guard is touted by top scouts as a versatile offensive player, who has the capability to impact the floor as a passer, scorer or cutter.
“The bottom line is that he’s a capable scorer, but could trend into more of a connector and versatile two-way piece down the road because of his combination of perimeter size, passing, feel, defense, and the ability to play multiple positions as he keeps building up his body,” wrote Adam Finkelstein, director of scouting for 247 Sports, in July.

Profit’s commitment marks the third-consecutive recruiting class where Northwestern has signed the program’s highest-ranked recruit, following Tre Singleton in the Class of 2025 and Jayden Hodge in the Class of 2026.
Hodge held the title for 351 days after committing to play for the ‘Cats in October 2025, while ranked as the No. 79 overall recruit in the Class of 2026 by 247 Sports.
Profit is getting set to play his senior year at Rancho Christian high school, after averaging 15.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists on the adidas 3SSB AAU-circuit this summer.
