The upcoming season of Bridgerton is scheduled to be released in 2027. This also means that the show is set to break its two-year release cycle. As per the OTT streaming platform Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria, Bridgerton is slated to return next year with season 5.
For those unaware, the fifth season of the series would see Francesca Bridgerton (played by Hannah Dodd) and Michaela Stirling (played by Masali Baduza) as the lead couple. The logline of the fifth season states, “The fifth season of Bridgerton spotlights introverted middle daughter Francesca. Two years after losing her beloved husband John, Fran decides to reenter the marriage mart for practical reasons.”
It also mentioned, “But when John’s cousin Michaela returns to London to tend to the Kilmartin estate, Fran’s complicated feelings will have her questioning whether to stick to her pragmatic intentions or pursue her inner passions.”
The fourth season focused on the love story between Benedict Bridgerton (played by Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (played by Yerin Ha). The third season had focused on Colin Bridgerton (played by Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (played by Nicola Coughlan). Season 2 was about Anthony Bridgerton (played by Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Sharma (played by Simone Ashley), while season 1 focused on Daphne Bridgerton (played by Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page).

Filmfare’s reviewer gave Bridgerton season four 2.5/5 stars. The reviewer commented, “Season 4 Part 1 works best as a table-setting exercise. It entertains and looks stunning while doing so. But it doesn’t quite sweep you off your feet. You enjoy the spectacle, smirk at the banter and admire the tailoring. And then you move on. You trust that the real drama is still waiting in the wings.”
