Brooklyn Beckham’s seawater pasta recipe has been slammed by fans

Brooklyn Beckham‘s seawater recipe has been questioned by fans after the star collected water from the ocean from the back of a superyacht.

The amateur chef re-shared a viral ‘tomato pasta’ recipe on TikTok where instead of salting water in a saucepan, Brooklyn took the pan to the back of the boat to collect water from the sea. “Of course we get some pasta water,” he said in the TikTok video.

One commentator joked: “Is boat exhaust the secret ingredient?” He then used that water to boil pasta while he started working on a simple sauce that included cherry tomatoes, garlic, his own brand Cloud 23 hot sauce, plus cheese and basil to garnish.

While Brooklyn is no stranger to being slammed online for sharing simple recipes, it was actually a hygiene issue that fans took umbrage with, stating that Brooklyn had no business using seawater as a substitute for salted tap water.

“Pasta water with a hint of burnt boat fuel please sir,” read one popular comment on the TikTok video. “Hi, quick question. I haven’t got the sea in my back Garden. Will tap water do?” asked another.

“It looks delicious Brooklyn, but the water is a joke right?” said another. “Mmmmmh, motor oil pasta water,” joked another.

Last August, just a couple of months after Brooklyn posted this pasta recipe for the first time, he was mocked by Queen Elizabeth‘s royal chef for using seawater.

“If you suggested this to an Italian I think they would be horrified. To be honest, it’s ridiculous,” he told Heart Bingo last year.

“If you’re cooking in sea water it’s going to be much saltier than you need for pasta. It’s going to have bacteria, viruses, all sorts of pollutants in there. It’s not something anyone should do at home.

“You just need fresh boiling water on a rolling boil. I like a pinch of salt in there, but some people don’t. By adding salt you increase the temperature of the water, which helps it cook. Then add your pasta and give it a stir.”

The eldest son of Posh and Becks was roasted by followers for sticking guanciale, which is a bit like a cured bacon lardon, on a carbonara.

After sharing a video of his carbonara, topped with dark brown meat, one fan commented: “As an Italian.. no. That cheek is burnt.” But Brooklyn hit back: “Guanciale has a lot of sugar in and that’s why it’s darker. I slow cooked it so it’s not burned.”

Italian chef Aldo Zilli then blasted: “Nowadays every celebrity is jumping on the cooking bandwagon. Burning guanciale would cause it to become bitter, hard and make the carbonara taste terrible – maybe he needs a masterclass from Aldo Zilli! Stop changing recipes!”

Brooklyn was also previously slammed for serving up blackened pizza in a clip plugging his new hot sauce and was branded out of touch for ladling truffle on a simple pasta dash.
