Caroline Flack’s brother Paul shared his final social media post almost six years ago, following the death of the late Love Island presenter and shared an insight into their bond

Caroline Flack’s brother Paul’s last social media post, six years ago, was dedicated to his late sister. Former Love Island host Caroline tragically died aged 40 on February 15, 2020, after taking her own life.

And today, it was confirmed that Paul, aged 55, was found unresponsive at his home in Norwich on June 21. Despite efforts to save him, his death was confirmed at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.

Paul is survived by his partner and their two children. A spokeswoman for Norfolk police said: “Next of kin have been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner in due course.”

Norfolk Coroner’s Court confirmed that an inquest into his death was opened on Monday.

In his final ever public Instagram post, Paul paid tribute to his much-loved sister Caroline.

Taking to the site in 2020, Paul shared a smiling photo of Caroline as a child. Captioning his post, he said: “This will be my last post here. May those who know feel shame for eternity. Love you Caroline x.”

Despite not being active on social media, Paul’s post was flooded with messages of condolence. One person said: “Rest in peace Paul, reunited with Caroline now.”

“RIP Paul, may you spend eternity with Caroline and I send enormous strength to your mum and family,” said a second. While a third went on to write: “I have no words… rest in peace Paul and give your sister a massive hug.”

Paul was one of Caroline’s three siblings – she had identical twin Jody, known as Jo, an older sister, Elizabeth, and Paul. Just last year, Caroline and Paul’s mum, Christine, bravely spoke in a Disney+ documentary as she attempted to understand the events which unfolded in the final months of Caroline’s life.

She described losing her daughter as “the worst thing in the world“. Reflecting on Caroline’s death, Christine, who referred to her daughter as Carrie, said: “Another lonely year has passed. I missed you just as much today as the day you left. I’m doing my very best to tell the world what some awful people drove you to. I won’t give up.”

Addressing her children as she opened up about the investigation surrounding Caroline’s passing, she went on to say: “I just hope I can achieve something, and as long as you all don’t mind me doing it, I’ll go ahead.

“I think Caroline would be pleased with what I’m doing. I wish I’d done it then, before she took her own life, and that’s my biggest regret, that I wasn’t shouting like this then, but now I’ve got nothing to lose. The worst thing in the world happened with losing Carrie.”

The TV presenter who fronted Love Island, amongst other shows, including The X Factor, took her own life after discovering that prosecutors had decided to go ahead with an assault charge following an incident involving her fiancé Lewis Burton in December 2019.

Coroner, Mary Hassell, determined that Flack sadly took her life as she knew she was being prosecuted and couldn’t face the scrutiny which would follow the trial.

Caroline and Paul’s mother criticised the police and prosecutors, claiming that they had targetted the star due to her celebrity status and claimed that they “had it in for her”.
