Sunny Deol is all set to return to the courtroom with Ikka. The upcoming legal drama will also reunite him with Akshaye Khanna on screen after their 1997 film Border. Recently, the cast and makers launched the trailer of the film, where the actors shared several anecdotes about Ikka and reflected on their careers.

During the event, Sunny revealed that there were once plans to make a sequel to his iconic courtroom drama Damini, but the project never materialised.

Speaking about his love for courtroom dramas, he said, “Definitely, mujhe Damini ke baad mauka nahi mila aur jaise hi ye subject mere paas aaya main khush tha ki hum itna koshish kar rahe thhe Damini 2 karne ka, but Damini 2 ka toh kuch hua nahi (I had not got the chance to do a courtroom drama after Damini, and we really wanted to make Damini 2, but that did not pan out).”

He further added, “I enjoy doing films and I want to do such characters, but I don’t know how far the characters will go. The journey of the character is so beautiful. It’s my high. Damini made you all my fans at that time. But after that, no such character or role came. When Siddharth (the director) narrated the story of Ikka to me, I really liked it. Again, you never know when or how a film will get made because the world keeps changing. Suddenly, Netflix came on board and said they wanted to make this film, and I was there.”

Sunny also opened up about reuniting with Akshaye Khanna after Border. He said, “Lekin ye film mere paas ayi aur isme Akshaye Khanna hain… jinke saath maine Border ki thi (Then Ikka happened where I am working with Akshaye, with whom I had worked in Border before). It was the first film where we worked together. Bohot maza aaya tha aur iss film mein bhi bohot maza aya (We had enjoyed working together in that film, and had just as much fun on this one). I have known him for so many years, and wo mujhse jyaada aloof hai (he is more aloof than I am).”
