Catalunya and Trieste became the last two qualifiers for the group stage as the qualification round in Berlin, Dunaújváros, Glyfada and Sabadell came to a close. This is how the last games panned out.

Glyfada were level at 2-2 after just under four minutes of the game, thanks to two goals from Andress, and then the match got away from them. Ethnikos finished the first quarter 5-2 up through Turner, Tsimara and Galanopoulou, and the second quarter was one-way traffic. Glyfada did not score at all in it. Ethnikos hit six, with Turner, Christmas, Karagianni, Tsimara (penalty), Wissmann and Tsiougri all scoring, and went in 11-2 ahead.
Glyfada did find some answers after the break. Laskaridou and Karanasiou scored in the third quarter, but each time Ethnikos had a reply ready, and Mimidi, Turner and Christmas made it 16-4. Kanetidou started the last quarter, Stavridou added two extra-player goals and Beta scored her second. Andress completed her hat-trick from the six-metre line for Glyfada’s last goal.

One goal separated Rapallo and De Zaan at the end of a game that neither side led by more than two. Both teams had already booked their places in the next round before the match, so nothing was riding on the result. Rapallo started better, with Citino scoring first and Galardi adding two centre goals for a 4-3 lead after the first quarter, and the sides were level at 7-7 at half-time. But Citino’s last shot was blocked by Drewes, who then stole the ball in the final second.

Catalunya were six goals up before Nancy had even troubled the scorer, and the win took them through to the next round. The hosts’ first quarter featured three penalties, two from Houghton and one from Pedley, plus a Pedley goal, one from Gomez and one from Pineda, and it ended 6-0. Nancy’s first goal was Andres’ centre shot in the second quarter, by which time Catalunya had already added Falvey’s extra-player goal. A 12-2 half-time lead left Nancy with little to play for.
The third quarter brought the biggest scoring spell of the match, with Catalunya outscoring Nancy 7-2 through Gomez, Falvey, Tarriao, Ferrer, Sulla and Inglavaga to reach 19-4. Four Donk players scored three goals each as the Dutch side beat Lille 20-5 in a dead rubber, with both teams already dropping down to the Euro Cup before the match. Joor, Van der Linde, Van der Meer and Van Dijk all reached three, and Renkers and Vermeulen added two apiece. Van der Meer scored the first goal and Vermeulen made it 2-0 on the counter, but Lille hit back through Lizotte. Lillie’s Kilic scored on the buzzer made it 5-2 at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was where Donk pulled clear. They scored six in it, including penalties from Haksteen and Van der Linde, and Renkers’ penalty took them to 11-3 at the break. Van Dijk’s penalty and action goal started the third quarter, and Naegle replied for Lille, The Dutch team would score two more from the end of the third with the score being 15-4. In the final eight minutes, Van der Meer scored twice in the last quarter, Keers added a counter-attack goal, and Kilic got her second for Lille before Donk’s Vos closed the scoring with a centre goal.

McDowall scored five times, three of them in one second-quarter spell, and that did most of the damage as Trieste beat Spandau 15-7, a result that sent them through to the next round. Spandau got off to a good start. Gesa Deike and Inaba scored in the first quarter to lead 2-0, but Di Maria and Allen brought Trieste back to 2-2. Then McDowall took over. Her three goals, plus Giustini twice and Zizza, gave Trieste a 6-2 second quarter and an 8-4 lead at half-time. Gesa Deike and Mihaly were Spandau’s scorers in that period.
Spandau had one chance to get back into it in the third quarter, but Mitterbauer’s penalty was saved, and Klatowski made it 10-5 before the quarter ended. Mihaly’s goal early in the fourth cut it to 10-6, but Trieste then scored four in a row through Gant, Aznar, McDowall and Aznar. Gesa Deike scored her fourth for Spandau and Klatowski had the last word. Aznar, Giustini and Klatowski each scored twice for Trieste.

Sabadell and Terrassa had both already secured their places in the next round before this match, but Sabadell still took control after Terrassa scored first. Penalver converted an extra-player chance, then Keuning levelled and Gonzalez, Piralkova and Van de Kraats put Sabadell 4-1 up. Penalver’s penalty and Gonzalez’s second goal made it 5-2 after one quarter. The second belonged entirely to Sabadell. They scored five without reply, through Neushul, Camus, Van de Kraats, Jurado and Neushul again, for a 10-2 half-time lead.
Gonzalez, Crespi and a Van de Kraats brace stretched the lead to 14-2 in the third quarter. Terrassa then scored three in two minutes, from Briceno, Williams and Cuenda, but Van de Kraats answered on the buzzer. The fourth did go Terrassa’s way and they won 5-2. Williams, Penalver, Casado, Penalver again and Briceno scored for them, but Neushul and Van de Kraats had already put the game out of reach. Van de Kraats scored six for Sabadell, and Penalver four for Terrassa.
