C’garh: Naxal Dumps Yielding Gold Biscuits, Cash, Arms And Ammunition, Explosives Recovered In Bastar

Acting on inputs provided by surrendered Maoists, security forces recovered a Naxal dump in the Todma jungle under Barsur area in Dantewada district under south Bastar of Chhattisgarh, a senior district police officer said.

The Maoist dump yielded 116 grams of gold biscuits worth Rs 16 lakh, a cash of Rs two lakh, an INSAS assault rifle, 16 INSAS magazines, four AK 47 magazines, 68 AK 47 cartridges, 23 SLR (Self-Loading Rifle) magazines, and 34 SLR cartridges, according to Dantewada district superintendent of police Gaurav Ray.

This apart, five 12-bore guns, seven 12-bore cartridges, three BGLs (Barrel Grenade Launchers), one BGL cell, two carbine magazines, eight .303 cartridges, 45 numbers of .303 chargers, six numbers of eight mm cartridges, ten country-made guns, one revolver and one gun were recovered in the dump.

Explosives recovered from the dump included six tiffin bombs, four pipe bombs, 122 arrow bombs, one para bomb, two improvised hand grenades, two improvised hand mortars, gelatin, 20 detonators, a bundle of codex wire, and 14 cookers used for making pressure cooker bomb.

In a separate incident, a Naxal dump was recovered near the Kanker-Narayanpur border in Bastar under Koyelibeda police station in Kanker district by the security personnel, police said.

Weapons, electronic gadgets and other Naxal materials were recovered in the dump, police said.

The Maoist dump was recovered during patrolling by police in the forested area.

Many Maoist dumps were recovered in Bastar jungles in the past several months following inputs given by the surrendered Maoists.

Bastar was declared free of armed Maoist activities on March 31, 2026.
