This was when suspected gunman, Cole Tomas Allen, fired shots during the White House Correspondents’ dinner on April 25, 2026. Present there was Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, and she was seen breaking down and crying a river.

A video by Rapid Report showed Erika Kirk breaking down after the shooting incident that took place at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Well, President Donald Trump and the other government officials were safely evacuated when the gunshots broke out. Erika was safely escorted, but she looked traumatised in the video. She cried and revealed going home. In her words:

“I just want to go home.”

Netizens give mixed reactions to Erika Kirk’s crying video after the White House dinner shooting incident

As seen in the video, Erika was wearing a golden gown, had her hair half tied and was holding a clutch. She was seen accompanied by an official. A netizen seeing the video noticed that Erika was being dramatic as she was being recorded. The user said, “She could have said, ‘I just wanna go home, ‘ while going down the stairs, but she said it when she saw someone recording her. She’s a lying, pretending “B”. Charlie Kirk should feel sorry in the grave that he married her.”

Another user seeing Erika’s crying clip said, “It’s sad, but moments like this make you feel, sometimes the fear others lived through finally comes close, and it hits different. Does it change anything now?” A user even observed Erika looking at the camera and saying that she wants to go home. She said it, knowing she was being recorded. A part of the comment read:

“Those are more tears than she shed after her hubby died. Sees someone recording*..i just wanna go home…what a terrible actress. At least she’s better in acting than Gal Gadot.”

Erika Kirk reportedly hid under the table when the shooting incident took place

A report in The Guardian noted that there were 2,000 attendees at the Washington event. President Donald Trump attended the annual Washington event for the first time. According to social media reports, Erika was among the many attendees who took shelter under the tables in the ballroom as soon as the chaos began. She reportedly was later consoled. A report in the publication stated that everyone felt some of the dinner plates had fallen. The next thing everyone knew, everyone was screaming under the table. For Cole, the main target was Trump. The President, aged 79, has released a statement on his desire to continue with the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. He had shared:

“Quite an evening in D.C. Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and bravely. The shooter has been apprehended, and I have recommended that we let the shw go on, but, will entirely be guided by Law Enforcement. They will make a decision shortly. Regardless of that decision, the evening will be much different than planned, and we’ll just, plain, have to do it again.”
