A fresh fault line has emerged within the Trinamool Congress, with senior party leader and MP Kalyan Banerjee publicly challenging national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and urging party chief Mamata Banerjee to choose between her nephew and veteran leaders.
Accusing Abhishek of displaying “arrogance” and having a “fluctuating mindset”, Kalyan said Mamata must decide whether to back the younger leadership or stand by long-serving party veterans like him.
The senior advocate also announced that he would no longer handle any legal matters or court cases related to Abhishek. However, he clarified that he would continue to represent and fight legal battles concerning the Trinamool Congress as a party.
