Christine Lampard has shared a candid admission about family life with husband Frank Lampard while reflecting on becoming a mum
Christine Lampard has opened up about one aspect of motherhood she wishes had worked out differently, making a candid admission about expanding her family with husband Frank Lampard.
The Loose Women star reflected on the couple’s journey to parenthood while appearing on the Sort Your Life Out: Unpacked podcast, where she revealed how becoming a mum exceeded her expectations.
Christine, 47, explained that she and Frank had spent years happily enjoying life together before deciding to have children, admitting it was initially her husband who encouraged them to start thinking about a family.
She said: “It was slightly our own fault. I mean, you know, we’ve been together 18 years. So we kind of went through years of just having a really nice life. It was just us. We were sort of happy doing our thing.
“And then it was actually more Frank. Frank said, ‘Look, we really should maybe think about this because I know you’re going to love it.’ And I thought, ‘Well, yeah, maybe I, maybe I would.'”
The presenter said becoming a mother turned out to be “a complete blessing” and revealed she would have happily welcomed more children if she had been able to.
“It was just a complete, it just felt like a complete blessing. And that’s the truth. I really loved it,” she said. “I’d have had more if I’d started younger. I would have, if I could have.
“But I would have. Honestly, I really, really enjoyed it. I say that and like two is a handful anyway. But yeah, it is. It’s a real blessing.”
Christine married Frank in December 2015. They welcomed their daughter Patricia in 2018 before their son Freddie arrived in 2021.
Elsewhere in the podcast, the TV star reflected on how much she has enjoyed every stage of parenthood.
“Every single phase, you kind of, I’ve loved the next phase even more,” she said. “I’ve got that beautiful spot at the moment where they’re still quite young and baby-ish, but they’re old enough to hold your hand and talk about their day and tell you what they want and if they’re hungry and there’s no guessing anymore. And actually, I’m loving this phase now as well.”
She also shared how different her children are, revealing Freddie has already developed “a dry sense of humour”, while Patricia has inherited her sentimental streak.
“My little girl’s very emotional and very attentive,” Christine said, adding: “Very, very sentimental. I mean, I would not be allowed to throw anything out that she’s ever made.”
Despite enjoying watching them grow, she said her hopes for both children remain straightforward.
“All I ever care about, I don’t need them to be Einstein’s. I don’t need them to do anything. I don’t really care. I just want them to be healthy, happy and kind, good people and right morals and values.”
