
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister – designate V D Satheeshan, on Sunday announced the list of 20 minister in the UDF ministry which will be sworn in on Monday.
Apart from Chief Minister designate V D Satheeshan, the other ministers who will be sworn in at the swearing in ceremony to be held in Central Stadium here, are; Ramesh Chennithala, Sunny Joseph, K Muraleedharan, A P Anil Kumar, P C Vishnunadh, Roji M John, Bindu Krishna, M Liju, T Siddique, K A Thulasi and O J Janeesh (all Congress), P K Kunhalikutty, N Shamshudeen, K M Shaji, P K Basheer , Abdul Gafoor (Indian Union Muslim League), Mons Joseph (Kerala Congress Joseph), Shibu Baby John (RSP), Anoop Jacob (Kerala Congress Jacob) and C P John (Communist Marxist Party ). .
Earlier, Satheeshan called on Governor Rajendra Viswanath Arlekar at the Lok Bhavan and handed over the list of ministers to be sworn in on Monday. The detailed portfolios will be submitted to the Governor after the swearing-in ceremony and will be published via gazette notification.
The chief minister-designate admitted that many people who were equally or more eligible to be included in the Cabinet lost out due to various factors, including social and regional balance.
Veteran leader Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan who could not find Cabinet berth, will be the UDF nominee for the post of Speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly. Shanimol Usman who was also tipped to get a ministerial berth and could not make it, will serve as the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly.
Kerala Congress (Joseph) nominee will be appointed as Government Chief Whip.
Swearing in
Elaborate arrangements have been made for the swearing-in ceremony at the Central Stadium behind the Secretariat. A Massive pandal has been erected for the ceremony to be attended by a host of dignitaries.
Satheeshan said Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi, Chief Ministers of Karnataka, Telangana and Himachal Pradesh, Siddaramaiah. Revanth Reddy, Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, respectively, Karnataka deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar, ministers of Karnataka and Telangana, Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vijayan, CPI state secretary Binoy Viswam, BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar.
When asked whether Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay would attend the swearing-in ceremony, the chief minister-designate said:“We have not received any information in this regard,” he added.”
Satheeshan told media persons; “we have discussed with the coalition partners within the Congress party and are delighted to say that we completed the entire process within 24 hours.”
He claimed that this was the fastest ministry formation in the history of Kerala.
“Even after the election, Team UDF remains united. The leaders respect each other. “The Congress has 12 ministerial berths besides myself. There are 63 Congress MLAs and many leaders who are more eligible than others. But they could not be included due to considerations of social balance, regional balance, women’s representation and Dalit representation. “We have included two members from the Scheduled Caste community in the Cabinet. We have three women in prominent positions: two ministers and a deputy speaker,” he said.
Satheeshan said final discussions on portfolios are currently on. “We have to submit the portfolios to the Governor, and after getting his approval, we will issue a gazette notification,” he added.
