Visakhapatnam: The Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district administration held a meeting with representatives of tribal organisations to finalise nominations for a proposed high-power committee to address tribal issues.
The meeting was convened in accordance with decisions taken at an earlier meeting chaired by home minister Vangalapudi Anitha and tribal welfare minister Gummadi Sandhya Rani with representatives of tribal organisations.
District collector T. Nishanthi chaired the meeting, which was attended by joint collector Tirumani Sripooja, ITDA project officer Aditya Varma and additional superintendent of police Shruthi.
Representatives of tribal organisations and employees’ unions from across the district participated in the meeting and offered their suggestions on the constitution of the committee.
During the discussions, tribal organisation leaders proposed the names of retired IAS officer Baburao Naidu and legal adviser Kobba Srinivas as members of the high-power committee.
The collector requested the representatives to arrive at a consensus and submit the names of the remaining three members by Tuesday.
