
Captain of the Croatian national team, Marko Bijac, signed a contract with Pro Recco.
The 35-year-old experienced goalkeeper has played for Pro Recco for three seasons (2018 – 2021), winning the Champions League in 2021.Bijac started his career at Jug Dubrovnik. After leaving the famous Croatian club, he was the goalkeeper of three clubs: Pro Recco (2018 – 2021), Olympiacos (2021 – 2024), and Jadran Split (2024 – 2026).
He won a number of domestic trophies with each club he played for. Bijac triumphed in the Champions League twice. Before lifting the trophy with Recco in 2021, he won the elite competition with Jug in 2016.
Bijac debuted for Croatia in 2012. Since then, he has won two Olympic silver medals (2018 and 2024), five medals at the World Championships (including two golds – 2017 and 2024), and reached the podium at the European Championships thrice (bronze in 2018, gold in 2022 and silver in 2018), medals in the World League and the World Cup, etc.
The Croatian player faces strong competition for the number 1 cap. One of his teammates is Gianmarco Nicosia, the goalkeeper of the Italian national team, who performed excellently during the 2025/26 season.
As of today, Pro Recco has confirmed two reinforcements – Bijac and Zalanki.

So far, the club has confirmed three reinforcements: goalkeepers Toni Popadic (arrived from Jug) and Mate Anic (Zadar 1952), and center-forward of the Slovakian national team, Lukas Seman, who came from Primorje Rijeka.
