NELLORE: The Congress has won the Vadlapudi MPTC seat in Manubolu mandal in the recently held MPTC and ZPTC elections, marking its electoral return in SPSR Nellore district after a prolonged gap.
Congress candidate Talapala Bharathi secured 998 votes, defeating her Telugu Desam rival, who polled 715 votes. The YSRC candidate finished third with 93 votes.
The victory comes as the Congress continues efforts to rebuild its political presence in Andhra Pradesh following the state’s bifurcation in 2014. The party has faced electoral challenges in the state, where the Telugu Desam-led alliance and the YSRC have dominated recent contests.
Nellore District Congress Committee president N. Kiran Kumar Reddy hails from Vadlapudi, giving the result local political significance. The victory is expected to provide a boost to the party’s efforts to revive its organisational base in the state.
