In a piece for The Washington Post, author Nancy French revealed that she had tied the knot with a man named David not long after she met him at the age of 20. Because she was so young and owing to her quick engagement, many of her friends and family were concerned. However, she chose to brush them off and dive straight into the relationship.
After their marriage, the newlyweds moved to NYC; all things seemed well at the start. Trouble began a week after this when several mysterious women began calling Nancy’s phone asking to speak with David.
While the calls kept coming, these women insisted that they had seen David just the other day. Nancy’s husband tried to assure her that this stream of phone calls was nothing more than the women dialling the wrong number.
But this was not enough to put Nancy’s mind at ease as she confessed that she began worrying if her husband was living some kind of double life without her knowledge. She also wondered if the worries that her friends and family had prior to her wedding were legitimate.
The mystery behind the phone calls from these unknown women was finally unravelled when a man called for David. While he was speaking with Nancy French, he grew testy and told her things like “All work should go through me” and “I’ve known David for years.” When Nancy told this person that she was David’s wife, the man began worrying. He said:
“Why didn’t he tell me about you? Are you…Pregnant? Expecting a little David Lee? A kid will really hurt our comeback.”
With him mentioning “David Lee,” Nancy finally realized that the man she was speaking to on the phone was none other than David Lee Roth’s agent. As things cleared up, it was revealed that Roth had changed his phone number shortly before Nancy and her husband had shifted to Manhattan.

After suddenly taking down his remaining US Tour dates, David Lee Roth received a surprisingly sympathetic response from his longtime nemesis, Sammy Hagar. For those who don’t know, Sammy had replaced the singer in Van Halen, and they have since had a very fractious relationship over the years.
In a video that he posted, Sammy could be seen sipping a Tequila cocktail while addressing David’s tour cancellation. He even invited David to join him on one of his upcoming Las Vegas shows. Sammy said:

I just got a call from [ex-Van Halen/current Hagar solo bassist] Michael Anthony as I’m sitting down having my favourite cocktail; I don’t have to tell you what this is, about your tour getting cancelled.
