As time goes by, humans have sought to invent things that make their lives easier and more convenient. Al is one such invention. Despite the fact that, AI does help humans in their day-to-day lives, it also has its cons. Recently, several actors have sought protection of their personality rights owing to the growing misuse of AI.
Following this, Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan also approached the court to seek protection of his personality rights, and now it looks like there is good news for the actor in the matter, as the Delhi High Court has granted interim relief to the actor in the case.
As per the report, the court has ordered the removal of AI-generated deepfakes, unauthorised merchandise listings, and other content allegedly misusing the actor’s name without his permission. In its May 29 order, Justice Jyoti Singh said that Varun Dhawan deserves protection from the misuse of his personality rights.
The court observed that several websites have misused the actor’s name, voice, and other identifiable attributes. Many have also shown him in inappropriate and even pornographic situations. Noting that such content can affect the actor’s reputation, the court ordered all such material to be taken down immediately.
