Dianna Russini has had a whirlwind week as she yet again finds herself grabbing the headlines. She had initially been in the spotlight after Page Six published seven exclusive photos of her with New England Patriots head coach, Mike Vrabel. In the now-viral snaps, the pair can be seen being affectionate at a luxury resort in Sedona, Arizona.

While both Mike and Dianna had refuted the rumours that they were cheating on their significant others with each other, fans have not entirely been convinced. After the intense public scrutiny, Dianna even had to resign from her job at The Athletic recently. Now, amid this, things have taken a dramatic turn after Dianna reportedly rescued an elderly man and a dog from a car crash.

On April 17, 2026, Page Six reported that Dianna Russini had mounted a daring rescue of an elderly man and his dog from an overturned Jeep. Apparently, the local news site, Patch, had reported about the crash, stating that around 5 pm on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, a 17-year-old driving a Honda Civic was going down a street in suburban Wyckoff, New Jersey when they collided with the Jeep. The collision resulted in the Jeep flipping 4×4 onto its side. Based on the same report, the Jeep was being driven by a 73-year-old man who got stuck inside the car with his dog after the crash happened. 

An eyewitness later told Page Six that the NFL reporter was also driving on the same road as the Jeep and that the accident took place right in front of her car. They claimed, “She ran out and had a tall man put her on top of the Jeep to open the door, and she and the other guy pulled the driver and his dog out of the Jeep.” Police arrived on the scene of the crash shortly after this. Police sources told the publication that they believe bystanders had helped deal with the crash before officers arrived on the scene.

While the aforementioned crash happened on April 15, 2026, Dianna Russini had quit her job at The Athletic just a day before, on April 14, 2026. Her decision came after netizens were left angered on seeing photos of her with Mike Vrabel, where they can be seen holding hands, hugging, and lounging together at the Ambiente resort. As per reports, Dianna had sent a letter to the Athletic executive editor, Steven Ginsberg. In the letter obtained by the Associated Press, Dianna wrote:

“I have covered the NFL with professionalism and dedication throughout my career, and I stand behind every story I have ever published. When the Page Six item first appeared, The Athletic supported me unequivocally, expressed confidence in my work and pride in my journalism. For that I am grateful.”

Dianna also wrote that in the days after the snaps took over the internet, many commentators in the media “have engaged in self-feeding speculation that is simply unmoored from the facts.” Despite the situation continuously escalating, fuelled by repeated leaks, Dianna claimed that she had no intention to submit to a public inquiry. She stated:

“Rather than allowing this to continue, I have decided to step aside now — before my current contract expires on June 30. I do so not because I accept the narrative that has been constructed around this episode, but because I refuse to lend it further oxygen or to let it define me or my career.”
