Did Mackenzie Shirilla Break Prison Rules? Officer Claims She Joined Explicit Video Call Behind Bars

Mackenzie Shirilla is currently dominating the headlines, despite being in prison since 2023. For the unversed, she has been convicted for intentionally killing her boyfriend and their friend in 2022. Now, thanks to the Netflix documentary, The Crash, the spotlight is back on Mackenzie and her parents. Amid that, a report recently claimed that Mackenzie violated multiple rules in prison, including being involved in a sexually explicit video call.

Mackenzie Shirilla has been breaking rules in prison

In 2023, Mackenzie Shirilla was sentenced for 15 years to prison. Now, a while back, a report by TMZ claims that she often violated prison rules and was also involved in a sexually explicit video card. Reportedly, in the past few years, Mackenzie has been possessing medication that was not prescribed to her. Reportedly, she had also kept unauthorised photos. Apart from this, she has also violated dress code.

Further, the report also discussed a few leaked audio recordings of Mackenzie Shirilla’s phone calls, in which she was repeatedly talking about receiving attention from men. Apart from this, she has also allegedly made explicit comments about prisoners. As per a report by TMZ, she once told an officer, “If [the employee] got a boner from the way I’m dressed, that’s his fault.”

One of the biggest revelations made in the recent TMZ report was that Mackenzie Shirilla was once involved in a sexually explicit video call. According to the report, officials claimed that Machenzie showed her breasts to her visitor. The visitor also exposed “her breast with a dildo sticking out of her pants twice.” Eventually, Machenzie admitted guilt on this one. Later, in 2025, Mackenzie was caught by an officer with an inmate. The inmate was allegedly grabbing Mackenzie’s butt, violating the rules.

Ever since the documentary, The Crash has been released, Mackenzie Shirilla and her parents have been facing a lot of backlash. The reason behind the same are a few remarks made by her parents, in which they defended their daughter. They also dismissed the allegations of Mackenzie bullying other students. Recently, Dominic Russo’s older sister, Christine Russo slammed her and shared:

“There is a fine line between defending your kids. And they created a monster — they’re monsters themselves. She’s always appealing her conviction. She can’t take accountability or responsibility.”

For those unaware, Mackenzie Shirilla is an Ohio woman, who is currently dominating the headlines for all the wrong reasons. In 2022, at the age of 17, she got involved in a car crash, leading to the death of her boyfriend, Dominic Russo, and their friend, Davion Flanagan. Eventually, it was turned into a murder claiming that Mackenzie intentionally killed them. Some reports also claimed that Mackenzie’s relationship with Dominic had turned toxic. A few days ago, multiple old texts of Mackenzie and Dominic resurfaced, raising questions.

According to authorities, Mackenzie Shirilla intentionally increased the speed near a commercial building, crashing into Dominic and Davion. In 2023, she was found guilty and sentenced to 15 years. Since then Mackenzie and her legal team have been trying to overturn the verdict. The case is grabbing headlines again due to the release of The Crash. It is worth noting that the documentary was released on May 15, 2026.
