The official trailer of Dorothy has been released by the makers, offering a closer look at the dark and violent world surrounding Keerthy Suresh’s titular character. Written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the upcoming Tamil drama appears to blend crime, friendship and survival into a story that gradually draws its central characters into a dangerous conflict.

The trailer introduces Dorothy as someone caught in the middle of a volatile situation involving her friends Karthi, played by Rishikanth, and Subbu, portrayed by Sananth. Both men are shown to be involved in criminal activities, and their actions soon have consequences for the trio. As tensions escalate, the violence surrounding them begins to affect their personal lives as well as those of the people around them.

Rather than revealing the complete trajectory of the story, the trailer focuses on establishing the characters and the increasingly dangerous circumstances they find themselves in. It hints at a story where friendship and loyalty are tested as the protagonists become entangled in a conflict that appears to be beyond their control.

Keerthy Suresh enters a darker world

Dorothy places Keerthy Suresh at the centre of a gritty crime drama, with the actor appearing to take on a character caught between her relationships and the consequences of the choices made by those closest to her. The trailer gives glimpses of Dorothy navigating a world where violence seems to be an unavoidable part of everyday life.

Rishikanth and Sananth’s characters appear to play a crucial role in setting the story’s conflict in motion. Their involvement in criminal activities gradually brings Dorothy into a dangerous situation, with the fallout extending to people outside their immediate circle.

The film also features Ramachandran Durairaj, Muthukumar, Gajaraj and Jeeva Subramanian, among others. While the trailer reveals several intense moments, it leaves the precise nature of the central conflict open, allowing the characters and their relationships to drive much of the intrigue.

Dorothy premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it offered international audiences an early look at Karthik Subbaraj’s latest directorial venture. The film is now set for its theatrical release on September 25.

Ilaiyaraaja scores his 1540th film

Adding to the film’s appeal is its music by legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja. Dorothy marks his 1540th film score, another major milestone in the celebrated composer’s remarkably prolific career.

The technical crew includes cinematographer S Thirunavukkarrasu, editor Ganesh Siva, production designer Kumar Gangappan and stunt choreographer Dinesh Subbarayan. Their work appears to contribute to the film’s grounded and intense visual treatment, particularly in the portions of the trailer depicting violence and conflict.

Karthik Subbaraj is producing Dorothy under his Dhammam Films banner. Guneet Monga and Aachin Jain are also producing the film under Sikhya Entertainment, while Jyoti Deshpande is backing it under the Jio Studios banner.

Following its festival premiere, Dorothy is now heading towards its theatrical release. With Keerthy Suresh leading a story steeped in crime, friendship and violence, and Karthik Subbaraj at the helm, the film promises to explore the consequences of being pulled into a world that can quickly turn dangerous.
