The teaser of “Dragon”, starring N. T. Rama Rao Jr (NTR), was released on Tuesday night ahead of the actor’s birthday and drew responses from fans across social media platforms. The teaser marked the first official reveal of the film’s title after the project was referred to as “NTRNeel” for several months.
The film is directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Mythri Movie Makers and NTR Arts. The teaser was released shortly before midnight on May 20 as part of NTR’s 43 rd birthday celebrations.
The video introduced NTR’s character, named “Luger”, and showed scenes linked to a 1960s backdrop connected to the Golden Triangle region and the opium trade. The teaser also confirmed that actors Anil Kapoor, Biju Menon and Rukmini Vasanth are part of the cast.
Soon after the release, hashtags including #Dragon, #DragonGlimpse and #HappyBirthdayNTR trended on X and other social media platforms. Fans shared clips, posters and screenshots from the teaser through the night. Several fan groups also organised birthday celebrations and special screenings of older NTR films in parts of Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.
The birthdayteaser was also among the top trending videos on YouTube within hours of release. The makers are yet to announce official 24-hour viewing figures.
This is the first collaboration between NTR and Prashanth Neel, known for directing the “KGF” film series and “Salaar”. The project has drawn attention since its announcement because of the combination of the actor and director.
