VISAKHAPATNAM: A man accused of causing a fatal accident while allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days on Tuesday.
Police said Naru Murali, 35, driving a Tata Ace mini-load vehicle, allegedly hit Itrajula Thaudu, 76, in Srikakulam’s Balaga area on June 30. Thaudu, a resident of Raipadu village in Amadalavalasa mandal, suffered serious injuries and remained unconscious during treatment. He died at RIMS, Srikakulam, on September 28.
Police altered the case registered under Crime No. 30/2026 at Srikakulam Traffic Police Station and added Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita following a complaint by Thaudu’s son Rajasekhar.
Traffic circle inspector V. Rama Rao arrested Murali and produced him before the I Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate Court.
