Phil Collins has taken a swipe at Oasis after revealing how he really felt when he learned that Noel Gallagher once thought he was the ‘antichrist of music’.
Phil Collins has responded to Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher’s remarks that he thought the Genesis singer was the “antichrist of music”.
The music legend, 75, said he isn’t a fan of the Gallagher brothers’ songs in an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, adding: “I prefer to listen to the Beatles.”
During the interview, Piers, 61, asked Phil how he felt about Oasis being inducted into the Hall of Fame at the same time as him, noting that Noel had once said he wanted Phil’s “severed head” in his fridge.
“By an amazing coincidence, Oasis are getting inducted into the Hall of Fame at the same time as you, I’d noticed later this year,” Piers said.

“Now, Noel Gallagher famously/infamously branded you the ‘Antichrist of music’ during the Britpop era and famously declared in his Supersonic documentary, he ‘wanted the severed head of Phil Collins in my fridge’. How do you feel about sharing the Hall of Fame stage with Mr Gallagher?”
Phil first diplomatically said that some words can be “misquoted” and said he understood why Noel might have thought he was the antichrist. The Against All Odds singer said: “When I did Not Dead Yet, the book, I obviously couldn’t handle writing a book on my own.
“I had a wonderful partner that helped me through the thing, and he’s a journalist, Craig, and he interviewed Noel Gallagher while we were doing the book, and he brought this up to Noel.
“[Noel] apparently said, ‘Well, I was really out of it one time and we went to see a Genesis gig. And when I saw Phil Collins, I thought he was the Antichrist’… And I think in one of our songs called Mama, I do that with the light underneath… When you’re out of it, that would have done the trick.”
Phil also said that he was going to be “quite jovial” when he saw Noel at the Hall of Fame dinner but when pushed to speak on their music, he added that he was not a fan.
“I mean, I prefer to listen to the Beatles, because they remind me of the Beatles, that’s why I say the Beatles,” he said. “Mick Jagger once said when someone asked him about what do you think of U2? He said, I don’t think of U2. And I think that’s really what I think about Oasis.”
Oasis are set to tour again in 2027. An astonishing 11 million fans are thought to have tried to get tickets for the new tour, which required fans to pre-register for an access code and then join time-specific queues.
This comes just after the band took part in a documentary about their return to music in 2025, which was the first time the Gallagher brothers had toured together in over a decade.
Meanwhile, Phil Collins started as the drummer for 1980s band Genesis, and became their lead vocalist after the original frontman Peter Gabriel left. Phil went on to have a successful solo career as well, achieving three UK number one singles as a solo performer.
