One error proved to be the difference as the Joplin Eagles fell 3-2 to the Logan-Rogersville Wildcats on Monday at Joplin High School.
Logan-Rogersville (13-6) got on the board in the top of the third when Avery Robinson hit a liner to left field that scored Quinn Brown. The Wildcats’ lead grew to 3-0 off an Eagles infield error that scored Courtney Batey and Robinson.

Joplin (10-10) inched closer in the bottom of the sixth inning when Jessica Madl drove in Kaili Caldwell with a line drive double to center field.
The Eagles pulled within a run in the final inning when Brylee Mitchell hit a one-out solo homer over the center field fence, but the rally fell short as the Wildcats held on for the 3-2 win.
Joplin starter Ella Watts went the distance for the Eagles. She gave up three runs, one earned, on nine hits while striking out seven and walking two.
Mariah Hagans finished 2 for 4 to lead Joplin at the plate.
“Ella did a good job for us in the circle. Logan-Rogersville is a good team,” Joplin head coach Jaren Hulette said. “We have to make adjustments sooner at the plate in those games. I did think we made good adjustments in the sixth and seventh, but we have to start sooner and eliminate some early mistakes.”

Riley Mathieson garnered the compete game win for Logan-Rogersville. She gave up two runs on six hits while striking out two and walking three.
Robinson went 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI for the Wildcats. Brown and Batey both finished 2 for 3 with one run each.
The Eagles travel to Webb City for a game at 5 p.m. Thursday.
