Emma Chamberlain turned heads once again at the Met Gala 2026. But this time her outfit was more than just fashion. Instead, it seemed like an art specimen, strategically removed from a canvas. The influencer and entrepreneur stepped out on the red carpet in a custom hand-painted gown. However, the highlight was that it took nearly 40 hours to make and 4 hours to dry. Needless to say, this turned Emma’s Met Gala 2026 look into one of the night’s most talked-about. Let’s know more about it.

Emma Chamberlain’s hand-painted look stole attention

For the iconic night, Emma Chamberlain wore a custom Mugler gown. It was created in collaboration with the brand’s creative director, Miguel Castro Freitas, and artist, Anna Deller-Yee. According to Vogue, the gown was designed to look like a live painting. In turn, it was a literal blend of fashion with traditional art methods. One of the standout features of the outfit was its creation process.

According to Deller-Yee, they did not use standard fashion paints to make it. Rather, the dress was painted using traditional fine-art materials. At the same time, they used nearly 30 base colors, all mixed by hand to produce the final look. In fact, the painting alone took nearly 40 hours, while the fabric took four complete days of drying with ventilation before it was ready. Meanwhile, some reports from WWD called it one of the most-labour intensive looks of the evening.
