English soccer star Raheem Sterling was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, according to a report.
Sterling, who has made 82 caps for England and played for Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea, was arrested on Thursday morning while driving a Lamborghini, the Press Association reported.
A police spokesperson from the Hampshire Constabulary told the PA that a Lamborghini collided with barriers on the M3 motorway.
The charges for Sterling include “suspicion of driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs, driving dangerously, possession of a class C drug and failing to provide a specimen.”
Sterling reportedly did not injure himself or hit another car, and he has been released on bail.
A source close to Sterling, a four-time Champions League winner with Man City, confirmed the arrest to the PA but said the former England star has been made to “feel worthless.”
Sterling, 31, was frozen out of the Chelsea first team last year as he was forced to train alone, and struggled to make an impact at Feyenoord after joining the Dutch club on a short-term deal this winter.
The forward played a crucial part in England’s run to the final during the European Championship in 2021, but has experienced a steep decline in form and was left out of the Three Lions’ squads for the 2024 Euros and this summer’s World Cup.

“It’s been an extremely tough couple of years for him and this incident encompasses that,” the source said.
The source added to the PA that there was no “proof of anything in his system.”
Sterling played in eight games for Feyenoord this season and had one assist.
