AFL premiership winner Mark Hutchings has announced his partner Hannah has died suddenly.
Hannah passed away two days after the birth of their daughter, Sofia.
Hutchings revealed it was her dream to become a mom, and expressed his “deep sadness” in a heartbreaking statement.
“It is with deep sadness that I share the sudden loss of my beautiful partner, Hannah,” he wrote. “2 days following the birth of our daughter, Sofia. I am shattered. Her dream was to become a Mum, so it’s been incredibly difficult to take.
“Thank you for all of your messages of support, I can’t always reply to them all but I do appreciate them. Sofia and I love you and will miss you very much Hannah.”
Hutchings shared the tragic news on social media along with a photo of himself beside a pregnant Hannah.
Condolences have poured in from the footy community following the heartbreaking news.
“Love you Hutchy, always here for you,” wrote Hutchings’s former teammate Jack Darling.
His wife Courtney said: “Been thinking of you everyday Hutch, no words will ever be enough. P️raying for you and your beautiful Sofia.”
West Coast star Bailey Williams commented under Hutchings’s social media post with a love heart emoji, as did Jamie Cripps and Jacob Blight.
“Thinking of you mate. Sending all our love your way,” said another former teammate, Mark LeCras.
Hutchings and Hannah are believed to have dated since 2023.
The 35-year-old retired from playing the following year, having made 120 AFL appearances, all for West Coast, where he won the premiership in 2018.
