Adilabad: Former minister Jogu Ramanna on Wednesday sought clarity from Adilabad MP Godam Nagesh and MLA Payal Shankar on the revival of the closed Adilabad unit of the Cement Corporation of India, amid reports of land acquisition for a proposed airport.
Addressing the issue along with displaced persons of the CCI unit, Ramanna said the state and Central governments should state their position on reviving the factory. He asked the MP and MLA to explain the steps being taken towards reopening the unit.
He alleged that BJP leaders were creating concern among residents of Belluri and surrounding villages, as well as Adilabad town, by frequently changing their stand on land acquisition.
Ramanna criticised the governments for planning to acquire land without consultations with affected farmers or addressing their concerns. He said elected representatives should focus on the welfare of farmers and residents.
He said the agitation would be intensified seeking clarity on revival of the CCI unit and measures for affected farmers. BRS leaders Ijjagiri Narayana, Kasthala Arun, Vittal, Rajana, Sanketh and Ashok were present.
