Ferne McCann has candidly admitted she’s feeling broody after ending her breastfeeding journey with her two-year-old daughter Finty
Ferne McCann has made no secret of the joys that come with her breastfeeding journey with both her children. But now that she has stopped, the former TOWIE star has revealed she’s feeling “broody”, no doubt missing the close connection breastfeeding gave her.
Taking to her Instagram, Ferne, 35, who is best known for her appearance on The Only Way Is Essex, posted a short clip of how she’s feeling now that her youngest daughter Finty, two, is no longer breastfeeding.
While holding her daughter in her arms, Ferne said: “I know this may look strange to some but I guess if you know…you know that this is comfort. This is connection. This is safety.”
She added: “I get asked a lot if I’m still breastfeeding and truthfully I don’t think I’ve quite been ready to say out loud that our journey has naturally come to an end. Even typing that feels emotional.”
“Breastfeeding has been one of the greatest privileges and achievements of my life! It hasn’t always been easy. There were hurdles, challenges, moments of exhaustion, moments of wanting to give up… but getting through to the other side was one of the most special things I’ve ever experienced,” she said.
Ferne continued: “To nourish, soothe, comfort and bond in that way is something I’ll never take for granted. The thought that one day you do it for the very last time, often without even realising it, honestly makes me emotional. If you’re currently breastfeeding, thinking about it, struggling with it, or somewhere in the middle… my message is always this: if it’s something you and your baby want….keep going for as long as it feels right for you both. Support matters. Information matters. You matter!”
And this may explain why she is now feeling as though she wants another child. She went on to say: “And breastmilk itself? There is nothing else like it on this earth. Nutritionally rich, intelligently designed, beautifully tailored.”
She added: ” It is quite literally living food, made by you, for your baby. Extraordinary doesn’t even cover it. If I’m being honest? Knowing that might have been my last time ever… it’s got me feeling a little bit broody. Don’t tell anyone.”
Ferne’s admission comes after she was forced to hit back at claims she’d split from Lorri Haines because she was spotted without her engagement ring.
Debunking the split claims, when contacted by the Mirror, a rep for Ferne said she and Lorri were still “very much together”. While an insider added: “Ferne doesn’t always wear her ring.”
On Valentine’s Day, Lorri declared his love for Ferne as he captioned a string of photos of them together, gushing: “HAPPY VALENTINES Ferne, My beautiful fiancée, love you so much!”
Ferne did not post a Valentine’s Day message directly to Lorri. However she did reply to his post, saying: “Ahhhh love these pics babe. HVD,” followed by red love heart emojis.
It comes after the influencer admitted that she and Lorri’s love life has changed since having a child. Speaking about their relationship has changed since having children, Ferne admitted that she feels their priorities have shifted as a couple, meaning they have less time to be intimate now than they used to.
If they want to have time together, Ferne said the best way to ensure it happens, is to schedule a date night or designated time to spend together in their calendars.
“Don’t worry, I think Lorri is okay. I’m not depriving him [of sex],” Ferne said, speaking to OK! Magazine in October. She added: “But yeah, it is what it is. Isn’t it the same for most couples with young children? We’ve gone through our honeymoon period.”
