Former Strictly Come Dancing star Trishna Bharadia has emotionally revealed her brain tumour battle with a candid post that she released on social media on Thursday
Former Strictly contestant Trishna Bharadia has revealed she is battling a brain tumour. The 46-year-old, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in her late twenties and then found fame when she competed in the non-celebrity version of Strictly in 2015.
She was one of six members of the public with an inspirational life story who had been chosen to compete in the famous ballroom with Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman as hosts in a special four-part series for Comic Relief and was partnered with Aljaž Škorjanec.
On Thursday, Trisha took to social media to reveal a health update with her followers where she disclosed she had been diagnosed with a brain tumour two months ago, but insisted she is now on the mend.
She wrote on Instagram: “So the universe thought that multiple sclerosis wasn’t enough for my brain to contend with and two months ago I had surgery for a type of brain tumour, I’m recovering well with support at home and the surgeon is pleased with how it went. I can absolutely say I’m a bionic woman now as I have metal plates and screws in my head!
“Special shoutout to all the staff at the hospital, especially the nurses in the recovery unit who were angels in scrubs looking after me for the first 24hrs. I have no words to describe my neurosurgeon – getting me through such a major operation with confidence, care and compassion.
“He was amazing! And also an extra special mention for my twin sister who was literally by my side for everything before and after, including when I was taken down to theatre, making sure I didn’t descend into a crazy mess of panic.

The TV star was inundated with support as soon as she revealed the news, with one fan writing: “Saddened to read this Trishna. You’re an absolute trooper and I wish you a speedy recovery! You’ve got this. Sending you much positivity and love.”
The Brain Tumour Chartity wrote: “We’re thinking of you during this time and wishing you a speedy recovery. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and showing the realities of living with a brain tumour.”
Another follower said: “So sorry to hear this and what you have had to go through. Sending you much needed positive energy, prayers and a speedy recovery. Take care.”
When Trishna initially found fame, she was one of six members of the public with an inspirational life story who had been chosen to compete in the famous ballroom with Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman watching over as hosts.
At the time, she was partnered with professional partner Aljaž Škorjanec and they managed to score 35 from judges Anton du Beke, Darcey Bussell, Len Goodman, and Bruno Toniolo.
The scores were for guidance only but in the end, it was former Royal Marine medic Cassidy Little, who lost part of his leg in Afghanistan in 2011, who won the competition after dancing with Natalie Lowe.
Since her time on the Strictly special, Trishna has continued her caeer as a patient advocate and patient engagement consultant and worked extensively across the media.
