Four-star running back ‘unlikely’ to sign with FSU

Four-star running back Jayden Miles is one of FSU’s top commitments in its 2027 recruiting class, but it will be tough for the Seminoles to hold on to the Baton Rouge native. That was the case before FSU fired Mike Norvell on Sunday, but that change likely made it even tougher.

He committed to Florida State on June 8, picking them over the LSU Tigers and Ohio State Buckeyes, who are having much better seasons and are not entering a new era. Neither one of them stopped recruiting Miles, and according to Mike Roach of 247Sports, he is not expected to end up with the Seminoles.

Even before Mike Norvell was fired, Jayden Miles was looking around. The Baton Rouge (LA) Catholic back started to hear more from LSU while Ohio State is in the picture for him as well. If LSU starts to make a stronger push, it’s tough to see Miles not taking the opportunity to stay home and play for the Tigers. Ohio State is also working on sorting out their running back options, and Miles is among those names. Perhaps a new hire at FSU could change the picture, but as of right now, sources feel it’s unlikely Miles ends up in Tallahassee.

Miles is ranked as the No. 389 overall player and No. 27 running back in the 247Sports composite. He is also the No. 14 player from Louisiana.

It would be a big blow to FSU’s 2027 recruiting class to lose Miles, who is their only running back commit and one of just seven four-star prospects committed. Running backs coach Kam Martin did a great job getting him into the class, and now he will have to do an even better job to keep him in it.

He has enjoyed an extremely successful career at Baton Rouge Catholic, and his senior year has been no different. While his full stats are not available, he has had several dominant performances. He was unstoppable against Zachary High School, rushing for 214 yards and six touchdowns on just 11 carries, averaging 19.5 yards per carry.
