The FSU Seminoles are starting the post-Mike Norvell era on Saturday, traveling to Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, to play the Boston College Eagles.
While interim head coach Rick Stockstill has coached plenty of games, this one will mean a little extra for the former FSU quarterback, who struggled to explain how excited he is to be back coaching after spending the past few years as a scout for the Seminoles.

“I can’t tell you. I can’t tell you how excited, you know, because it almost, I was appreciative of coach (Mike Norvell) giving me the opportunity where I was at, but every day I walked through that door, I can’t tell you how much I missed coaching, how much I missed interacting with the players. I’d go downstairs to the GA’s office or the coaches office and just hang out just to kind of be around coaches. I’m ecstatic about this opportunity and that’s what I feel I am. I’m a coach. Again, I’m appreciative of the opportunity, but I’m jacked. I’m fired up to get out there and actually coach and be around and try to impact coaches and players as much as I can.”
FSU (3-5, 1-4 ACC) is looking to snap a three-game losing streak, something they are favored to do. It won’t be easy though, the Seminoles have lost their last 12 games and will have to play cleaner football if they want to beat Boston College.
While the Eagles (4-4, 2-3) have also had a disappointing season, they have won two of their past three games and won the last time the two programs faced off in 2014. Stockstill has plenty of experience at the top, but FSU will have two new playcallers in offensive coordinator Tim Harris Jr. and interim defensive coordinator Ernie Sims, who has never called plays before.
