Gabby Logan has highlighted during a recording of her podcast how her family dynamic has changed since her son Reuben moved to Manchester last year

Presenter Gabby Logan has opened up about a shift in her relationship with her daughter Lois during a recent episode of her podcast.

Gabby, 53, was joined by her husband, former rugby player Kenny Logan, 54, and their showjumper daughter Lois, 20, on The Mid Point with Gabby Logan.

During the conversation, Gabby discussed how their family dynamic has changed since her son Reuben Logan moved to Manchester last summer.

Addressing Lois, she said: “[Reuben] has been in Manchester now for about nine months since last summer….It’s the biggest shift in our family dynamic.

“You come home quite a lot…you’re still home 50 percent of the year and he has been home twice since he went out there or three times maybe for one night occasionally.”

Gabby added that she is able to see her son when travelling to Manchester to present Match of the Day, while Kenny also visits to watch him play rugby.

However, Lois said she does not see her brother nearly as often, despite the pair staying in touch more regularly.

She said: “I don’t see him nearly as much…He actually calls me more now. He’s definitely grown up a lot….Yesterday he called me and he was just driving back from training, we had a nice long chat.”

Elsewhere in the podcast, Lois became more candid as she admitted that while she does not mind travelling into London to record, she can find the city overwhelming, particularly during busy periods.

She said: “I’m sure there’s lots of people who can understand the feeling. It’s like people stepping on my toes…I can appreciate London, today’s nice, Soho’s lovely, but when it’s Christmas time, there’s a lot.

“Also, I’m kind of scared someone is going to mug my phone or my handbag now. My arm is clamped under my shoulder.”

In response, Gabby pointed out that crime rates in London have been falling, while data from CrimeRate suggests the capital’s overall crime risk has declined significantly over the past decade.

She also suggested that Lois is naturally more suited to rural life than city living.

Gabby said: “We all know people who have had their phones nicked, so anecdotally, things aren’t great, but you are definitely, if you had to put you into a group, someone who loves nature and the countryside.”

Lois, who is currently at university, added that while she enjoys socialising with friends, she is equally content spending time alone.

She said: “When I am out with my friends and doing things, I generally enjoy it and I do tend to have a good time. But there’s also that devil on my shoulder being like, ‘Stay at home. Read a book. Go to bed at eight o’clock with some sleepy tea’. I’m 20, it’s a bit embarrassing really, but I do go out.”
