While ‘Tara’ was a poor truck driver in the film, the remuneration for the role was anything but small. For the unversed, the early 2000s were the peak of Sunny’s career, following hits like Ghatak, Border, Ziddi, and Jeet in the late 1990s. The lineup made him an in-demand face, which even the producers recognised and offered Sunny Rs. 4.50 crores for his role; honestly, it was money well spent, given ‘Tara’ was the ultimate pookie of his generation.

Ameesha Patel bagged the second-highest paycheque for her role as ‘Sakeena’

Amesha Patel was still a newcomer when she was selected from a massive group of 500 auditioners. However, her innocence was what made the directors choose her for the role, and she was the perfect fit for the film. But, how much did she get paid for her role? Well, Ameesha was reportedly paid Rs. 70 lakh for her portrayal of ‘Sakeena’ at the time.

Amrish Puri was paid Rs. 60 lakh for playing the antagonist Abbu in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha

Amrish Puri was one of the finest actors of his time. He played the role of ‘Ashraf Ali’, aka ‘Sakeena’s’ antagonist Abbu in the film, and well, it’s safe to say he made us all hate him a little bit. Nonetheless, coming back to Amrish’s remuneration for the film, the actor was paid Rs. 60 lakh for his role.

Utkarsh Sharma took home Rs. 20,000 for his role in Gadar

Now, talking about the youngest cast member of the film, Utkarsh Sharma. Yes! The adorable little boy who melted ‘Mogambo’s’ heart with his rendition of Aaja Kaale Kawa. The child actor was paid Rs. 20,000 for the role of ‘Jeet’/’Charanjeet’, the very adorable son of ‘Sakeena’ and ‘Tara Singh’. 

Lillete Dubey bagged a decent paycheque for her role as ‘Sakeena’s’ mother

Lillete Dubey played the role of ‘Sakeena’s’ mother, ‘Shabana’ in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. The very stylish mother, who, on an extremely contrasting note for an Indian mom, refused to help her daughter reunite with her son. However, while her role was short in the film, she bagged a decent paycheque for it. According to reports, the makers paid Lillete Rs. 80,000 for her role in Gadar.

‘Tara Singh’s’ bestfriend, ‘Darmiyaan’ aka Vivek Shauq, took home lakhs for his role

‘Darmiyaan’ and ‘Tara Singh’s’ friendship was one of the most loved bonds in the film, and the actor did a spectacular job playing the role. Essayed by Vivek Shauq, the role added a comic element to the otherwise serious film. And for the role, he was paid Rs. 5 lakh by the makers.
