His team, Los Angeles Angels confirmed his passing through an X (formerly Twitter) post. Even though his wife, Teresa initially revealed that the baseball player died due to a heart attack to ESPN’s Michael Eaves, a recent report by California Post has shared another update about the cause of his death.

According to a recent report by The California Post, the veteran baseball player, Garret Anderson passed away due to major complications in pancreas. Reportedly, the cause of his death was acute necrotizing pancreatitis. If reports are to be believed, such conditions are caused by gallstone disease and alcohol. It is worth noting that moments after the player’s death, his wife, Teresa came forward and revealed that he died due to a heart attack, according to a report by TMZ.

Los Angeles Angels confirmed Garret Anderson’s death

On April 17, 2026, the Los Angeles Angels penned a heartfelt tribute for the former baseball player, Garret Anderson, soon after his tragic death. The owner of Angels, Arte Moreno recalled the beautiful journey of Garret. He also extended his heartfelt condolences to Garret’s family including his wife and their three children. Arte’s note can be read as:

“The Angels organisation is mourning the loss of one of our franchise’s most beloved icons. Garret will forever hold a special place in the hearts of Angels fans for his professionalism, class, and loyalty throughout his career and beyond. His admiration and respect for the game was immeasurable. We extend our deepest condolences to Garret’s wife Teresa, daughters Brianne and Bailey, son Garret ‘Trey’ Anderson III, and his entire family.”

Garret Anderson’s inspiring baseball journey

Talking about Garret Anderson‘s baseball journey, he was one of the most loved players, who was recognised for his strong game, hard work and consistency. His journey began when he was selected in the first round of the 1990 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Angels. Later, he made his debut in Major League Baseball. The next year, he made headlines as the runner up for Rookie of the Year. Over the years, he played more than 100 games.

For those who do not know, Garret Anderson was a three-time All-Star and in 2002, he helped his team, Los Angeles Angels win their first-ever World Series title. If reports are to be believed, he hit .306, scored 29 home runs and had 123 RBIs. After a successful career, Garret announced retirement in 2011. Talking about his retirement, he had once shared:

“It is with mixed emotions that I have decided to retire from baseball. I know I will miss many aspects of the game, the grind of playing every day, hitting with the game on the line.”
