THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A collection of 32 speeches by Kerala Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan, examining Biblical teachings, Christian philosophy, and their relevance to contemporary society, has been published in English by DC Books.

Titled “Adam Where Art Thou”, the 198-page volume is the English translation of Satheesan’s Malayalam work “Adam Nee Evide Aakunnu”. The original brought together addresses he delivered at gatherings organised by various Christian denominations across Kerala. It quickly gained a wide readership and entered bestseller lists within three months of its release.

The book draws heavily on the Bible, which Satheesan has cited as a significant influence on his political life. It presents his reflections on faith, human values, social responsibility, and the moral duties of individuals.

The speeches examine biblical narratives and the teachings of Jesus Christ in the context of contemporary social realities. The title, inspired by the question God asks Adam in the Book of Genesis, serves as a call for personal introspection, encouraging readers to consider their responsibilities towards others, society, and the natural world. Through references to biblical episodes and Christian philosophy, the speeches emphasise compassion, love, forgiveness, service, and care for the marginalised.

They also explore contemporary issues such as human suffering, the erosion of family bonds, and the importance of fostering mutual understanding and social harmony.

The speeches were translated into English by writer Rauf Rumi, with Roy Mathew, media secretary to the Chief Minister, overseeing their compilation and editorial arrangement. Arun Gokul designed the cover of the English edition.

Publisher Ravi Deecee noted that the English version would make the work accessible to a broader readership beyond Malayalam speakers. The 198-page edition is priced at ₹349 and is available in bookstores and on digital platforms.
