Governor Takes Part in Gujarat, Maharashtra Foundation Day Events

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer on Friday participated in the foundation day celebrations of Gujarat and Maharashtra held at Lok Bhavan under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat’ programme.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor said Gujarat celebrates its state formation day as ‘Gujarat Gaurav Diwas’. He spoke about its rich heritage tracing back to the Vedic era and referred to prominent sites such as the Somnath Temple and Girnar. He described Gujarat as an economic powerhouse that has witnessed rapid growth since 1960 in sectors such as textiles, agriculture and maritime trade, adding that its ports serve as gateways to India’s prosperity.

Referring to Maharashtra, the Governor said it is the third-largest state and ranks second in population in the country. He described Mumbai, the state capital, as the financial capital of India and a major centre for the film and television industry.

The programme began with video messages from Gujarat Governor Acharya Dev Vrat and Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma.
