One of those who are giving them their just due is none other than Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench, per MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM. Bench was simple but profound: the Brewers were the best team in baseball.
“Who was the best team in baseball? There’s not a question, Milwaukee had it.”

It has been a long time coming, but Milwaukee showed up and showed out. They finished 103-59 and won the National League Central Division. Then they defeated the San Diego Padres in the NLDS in four games.
Afterward, Milwaukee did the seemingly impossible by sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS. The Dodgers were riding high as the two-time defending World Series champions, having the highest payroll, and superstar talent.

Then, Milwaukee won the first three games of the World Series over the Tampa Bay Rays. After losing Game 4, Milwaukee had the momentum, and the result spoke for itself.

Bench knows what it means to win because he won two World Series titles with the Cincinnati Reds in 1975 and 1976. At the time, they were dubbed the “Big Red Machine” for their illustrious talent. He went on to become arguably the best catcher of his era and a beloved host of the kids’ show “The Baseball Bunch.”
Bench was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989.
