Emmerdale’s Ross Barton actor Michael Parr dated his village co-star for three years before they went their separate ways
Emmerdale‘s Michael Parr is a firm favourite portraying Ross Barton — but which of his co-stars did he once have a romance with?
The actor rocketed to fame upon joining the ITV soap as Ross, and it’s safe to say he wasted no time in winning over the hearts of viewers.
Ross has also been at the centre of several landmark storylines. From enduring a horrifying acid attack to his numerous village love affairs, his time in the Dales has been anything but uneventful.
Particularly in recent months, as last year Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) discovered she was pregnant following a one-night stand with Ross. Around the same time, Sarah agreed to act as a surrogate for Sarah (Katie Hill) and Jacob Sugden’s (Joe-Warren Plant) child.
The truth about Ross being the father remains a closely guarded secret, known only to Ross himself, who has stayed silent at Charity’s behest. Meanwhile, Charity’s husband Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) remains utterly in the dark about her betrayal, reports the Daily Star.
In Monday’s episode (April 20) events took a dramatic twist when Charity went into labour on the very day of Sarah’s baby shower. Upon arriving at the hospital, Charity found herself trapped in a lift alongside both Mack and Ross.
And while Ross has experienced no shortage of ill-fated romances on screen, off screen actor Michael Parr’s personal life has grabbed headlines on numerous occasions throughout the years.
A couple of years after joining the programme, Michael began dating Isabel Hodgins, who portrays Victoria Sugden. The couple maintained their relationship relatively privately, before making it Instagram official in 2016.
Michael also posted a heartfelt tribute to Isabel for her birthday. He penned: “Happy 24th birthday to this little one. Who woulda thought that 5’2 (and a half) could pack so much love, devotion and attitude.
“Thank you for being the most wonderful and caring best friend a boy could ask for. Love you to the moon and back. X.”
Yet by 2019, Michael and Isabel had parted ways after three years together, following Mike’s departure from Emmerdale to pursue opportunities in America. Isabel, meanwhile, continued with the soap.
An insider at the time told The Sun: “They drifted apart and felt it was better to be mates. He has been throwing himself into his social life and has just been on a lads’ holiday and she is focusing on work, they’re both young and want to follow their dreams. They had a meaningful relationship and they’ll remember the good times.”
After his separation from Isabel, Michael discovered romance with Isabelle Du Plessis. Their relationship flourished, and the couple welcomed their first child in September 2025, a daughter named Suzie Rose Par.
Sharing on Instagram, Isabelle posted a series of images and introduced her daughter to followers. Delighted dad Michael was seen grinning while cradling his little girl in one photograph. Isabel, meanwhile, is happily married to her husband Adam Whitehead. The couple welcomed a baby girl, Georgie Grace Whitehead, in February this year.
Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 8:00pm on ITV1 and ITVX
