Severe heatwave continues to grip Andhra Pradesh, with temperatures soaring past 40°C in several districts. On Wednesday, Rayalapeta in Chittoor district recorded the highest temperature at 43.7°C, while 143 mandals across 22 districts reported extreme conditions.
He disclosed that maximum temperatures on Thursday are likely to range between 43°C and 44°C, with heatwaves expected in G.K. Veedhi in ASR district and in Chintur, Kunavaram, and Gurtedu of Polavaram district.
Prakhar Jain further said heatwaves will prevail in 16 mandals on Friday, with possibility of a severe heatwave.
Under the influence of a low-pressure area, scattered rains accompanied by lightning are expected in Rayalaseema districts over the next two days.
On Wednesday, maximum temperatures recorded are as follows: 42.6°C in Dornipadu (Nandyal district), 42.5°C in Nagaradona (Kurnool district), 42°C in Kalasapadu (YSR Kadapa district), 41.9°C in Kambham (Markapuram district), 41.8°C in Vuyyuru (Krishna district) and Thorragudipadu (NTR district), 41.3°C in Devarapalli (Anakapalli district), 41.2°C in Battuvanipalli (Anantapur district), Bellamkonda (Palnadu district), and Dadithota (Sri Sathya Sai district), and 41°C in Marripadu (Nellore district).
