Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall across Telangana over the next seven days, with heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds expected to affect several districts until July 3.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Hyderabad, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at many places across the state, while isolated heavy rainfall has been forecast on most days.
For June 27, the IMD has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy districts. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph are also likely over these districts, while winds of 30-40 kmph may affect several other districts, including Hyderabad.
On June 28, heavy rain is expected in Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool and several northern and eastern districts. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are likely across all districts of Telangana.
The IMD has also forecast isolated heavy rainfall on June 29 and June 30, mainly over northern, eastern and central districts, including Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Rajanna Sircilla, Jagtial, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam and Mahabubabad.
For July 1 to July 3, heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places across the state, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph.
The weather office has advised people to remain alert during thunderstorms, avoid taking shelter under trees during lightning, and follow official weather advisories. Farmers have also been urged to monitor updated forecasts while planning agricultural operations.
