Heidi Klum went all out for her Met Gala outfit this year and turned herself into a marble statue, leaving those in attendance at people watching at home stunned

She’s the undisputed queen of Halloween, but Heidi Klum brought her costume couture to the Met Gala in style. The German model and TV star is no stranger when it comes to grabbing attention with her incredibly detailed outfits, and she took this year’s theme of ‘Fashion is Art’ to a whole other level.

Heidi left fellow guests including Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, Beyoncé and Dame Anna Wintour in the shade with her show-stoppping ensemble as she transformed into a living statue. While many opted for glamorous looks, Heidi, 52, went all out, transforming herself into a marble statue. However, it was quite fitting as this year’s theme was Costume Art and the dress code was Fashion is Art.

The code asked those in attendance to “illuminate the indivisible connection between clothing and the body,” as well as the “complex interplay between artistic representations of the body and fashion as an embodied art form.”

Heidi looked unrecognisable in her look, which appeared to depict a naked body draped in fabric, while being sculpted from marble. However, Heidi’s look left social media users divided, with some branding it “creepy”, while others heaped praise on the star who “understood the assignment.”

“That is soooooooo coool,” said one social media user. A second penned: “Finally someone who understood the assignment Heidi didn’t just wear the theme she became the art. Living marble statue is insane commitment.” “She’s the one who gor the theme right,” commented a third.

“Lifetime access to the MET for this one @annawintour write that down,” exclaimed another. “I’m actually so stunned at this. My goodness,” said a fifth. Another penned: “The only one who understood the concept of the topic.”

But people disagreed, with one writing: “This isn’t Halloween, honey.” “This looks more creepy than creative,” said a second. A third typed: “Costume vs fashion trips people on here who think the gala is a costume party. This is a costume. and not a good one.”

While a fourth penned: “Ok, I’m going to admit that it fits the theme, but I’m also going to admit that it scares me a lot.” Speaking at the event about her outfit, Heidi said: “I got inspired by The Veiled Vestal. I was like, I want to become her.”

She went on to tell Vogue: “I started at The Met. I went walking around The Met. Raffaele Monti, he’s done most of the sculptures from the 1800s. I looked and was like, ‘Wow this is so beautiful. The drape and it’s all on marble, but how can you make that with fabric? I look hard, but I’m soft. It’s foam and latex.

“It’s a little warm. It’s a little on the toasty side.”
