Formula One host, Martin Brundle, was left red-faced after interviewing Hugh Grant at Silverstone on Sunday. The Hollywood star, 65, was among a flurry of famous faces at the British Grand Prix, which was won by Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.

Martin, who has been reporting on Formula One for years, loves to chat to the celebrities in the paddock as he weaves his way through the VIP section with his microphone.

However, on Sunday, he made a bit of gaffe when he asked Hugh about a TV series he had never appeared in. Assuring the Four Weddings and a Funeral star that he only wanted a “quick chat”, he asked: “Are you doing another round of The Gentlemen soon? Because I really loved that.”

Appearing not to hear the presenter, Hugh leant in as Martin repeated: “Are you doing another series of The Gentlemen?”

Looking distinctly baffled before clarifying that he was in a film called The Gentleman, but not the TV series, Hugh said: “Well I did the film of The Gentlemen, I haven’t seen the TV series.”

Looking somewhat surprised, Martin responded: “Oh right, it’s really good – you really must.” Quickly wrapping up the toe-curling exchange, he said: “‘I’ve got 10 seconds left for the national anthem. Good to see you on the grid.”

While Hugh wasn’t in Netflix’s The Gentlemen, starring Theo James, he was in the 2020 action-comedy with the same title. In the film, the Bridget Jones star plays Fletcher, a private investigator at a tabloid newspaper, who is in hot pursuit of information, specifically about drug lord Mickey Pearson.

Hugh was joined by a host of stars on Sunday, including Adele. The Hometown Glory star dressed casually, wearing a t-shirt paying tribute to 2025 World Champion Lando Norris and his McLaren racing team. She teamed her look with an adorable necklace that spelt out the word ‘mummy.’

Joining her was Queen star Brian May, who was papped visiting the Ferrari garage ahead of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. With his trademark bouffant curls, the guitarist looked to be in deep conversation.

Also at the Grand Prix was Sort Your Life Out star Stacey Solomon. She told fans she and husband Joe Swash were enjoying a “rare” day without their kids as they soaked up the VIP experience. They were joined by F1 fan, Stacey’s dad, Dave, and, more randomly, her ex. Sharing a snap of her former boyfriend, Dean, with whom Stacey shares son Zachary with, the mum-of-five said the gang, including Dean’s wife, were having a whale of a time at the race.
