HYDERABAD: In a recent drug bust in Madhapur, police identified eight drug consumers linked to the arrested peddler, revealing that all of them were acquaintances residing in the same apartment complex, where the raid was conducted.
According to a source, the prime accused, Dhanekula Tharun Teja, 22, a native of Vijayawada was residing at an apartment in Chandra Naik Thanda under Madhapur police limits from where he operated a drug distribution and consumption network. Officials said all eight consumers have been procuring drugs from Teja.
During a joint raid conducted by Madhapur police and the Kukatpally SOT on Saturday, police seized 15 grams of MDMA, 382 grams of OG Kush ganja, nine mobile phones, two weighing machines and drug consumption and packing materials from the premises.
Police said urine tests conducted on all nine individuals, including the arrested accused, tested positive. Blood samples were also collected and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for detailed examination. The eight consumers were served notices and were counselled and referred to de-addiction and rehabilitation centres, police said.
Investigators further revealed that two absconding accused, identified as Karthik and Pruthvi, both natives of Vijayawada, allegedly supplied the contraband to Teja. Police teams are currently on the lookout for the duo and are probing the wider supply chain.
