
Hyderabad: A man was sentenced to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment by a Pocso court on Monday after being found guilty of sexually abusing his minor daughter.
The accused, Dade Raju, 37, of Kurvaguda village in Shabad mandal, Ranga Reddy district, was convicted and fined Rs 2,500 in Crime No. 303 of 2024 under Sections 65(1), 64(2)(f), 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 5(l)(n) read with 6 of the POCSO Act, 2012, registered at Shabad police station under Future City commissionerate.
Shabad police said the case began with a complaint from the victim’s cousin, who alleged that the girl was sexually assaulted by her father on several occasions at their residence. Based on the complaint, a case was registered.
Investigating officer B. Kantha Reddy, inspector of Shabad police, collected oral, documentary and scientific evidence, examined witnesses and filed a charge sheet. After a full trial, the court found the accused guilty.
Sessions Judge for trial and disposal of Pocso cases at LB Nagar, Rangareddy district, convicted Raju and awarded compensation of Rs 7 lakh to the victim. Following pronouncement of the sentence, Shabad police escorted the convict to Cherlapally prison.
