Hyderabad: A woman has been sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering her husband in 2021. District SP D.V. Srinivasa Rao said the District Principal Court imposed life imprisonment and a fine of ₹6,000 on the accused in connection with the case registered at Manoharabad police station.
Murali, a native of Parkibanda village, married Vijayalakshmi of Manoharabad 22 years ago. The couple had two children. Frequent disputes led to counselling sessions at the police station and mediation by village elders.
Murali broke his leg in a road accident 18 months ago and had been staying at home since, unable to work. Arguments between the couple increased.
On the night of March 15, 2021, while Murali was asleep, Vijayalakshmi attacked him with a pestle, causing fatal injuries.
Based on a complaint filed by family members, then SI Raju registered a case and initiated investigation. Police said meticulous investigation and strong evidence ensured conviction.
