Actor Imran Khan joined a student protest in Mumbai on Thursday, expressing solidarity with demonstrators raising concerns over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination process. The gathering took place at Shivaji Park in Dadar, where the actor was seen walking alongside protesters despite heavy rain. Photos and videos of his participation quickly circulated on social media. Imran’s appearance came a day after his uncle, Aamir Khan, stated during a media interaction at the British Film Institute in London that he was not familiar with activist Sonam Wangchuk.

Imran Khan backs students’ concerns

Addressing those gathered at the protest, Imran Khan said he was there to support students whose hard work had been affected. “I’m here to show support and solidarity with all of the students whose work has been impacted,” he said. Calling the movement “the fight for the future of our nation,” the actor expressed support for students seeking accountability and a fair resolution to their concerns. He also criticised reports of police action against protesters in Delhi.

Celebrities extend support

Several members of the entertainment industry have also voiced support for the students in recent days. Actors Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem were seen at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, while Rasika Dugal shared photographs from the Mumbai protest on social media, writing that she stood “in solidarity with every student demanding accountability, justice and hope for a future they can believe in.”

Actor Ayesha Khan, who attended the Mumbai demonstration, alleged on Instagram that she was detained by police during the protest. Singer Mika Singh also criticised the reported use of force against demonstrators during protests in Delhi.

Student demonstrations have been held in multiple cities across the country following the July 20 “Chalo Sansad” march, with protesters continuing to demand accountability over the examination controversy.
