Janhvi Kapoor has addressed the AI-morphed video that’s been circulating online, built using footage from her Devara: Part 1 song Chuttamalle. The altered clip digitally manipulated her appearance into sexually explicit content that had no place in the original. It’s since been taken down, but not before sparking a wider conversation around consent and AI misuse.
Disgusting, Sick and Shameless. In a land that worships women as mothers and goddesses, where “Matrudevo Bhava” is not just a phrase but a part of our culture, some people have fallen so low that they are using AI to disrespect a woman in the most degrading way possible. Using AI to create something this vile is shameful beyond words. To the scumbags behind this morphed Chuttamalle video, I will not spare any of you. I will take every possible legal action against those who created it and those who are spreading it. Please do not watch, share or engage with such content. Today it is someone else. Tomorrow, it could be your mother, sister, wife or daughter. This is a serious issue, and I urge all the state governments and the Government of India to act strongly and bring in strict regulations against the misuse of AI.

Breaking her silence on Instagram, Janhvi didn’t hold back. “The criminal misuse of technology to objectify women and circulate fictionalised content without consent is deeply violating, bordering on sexual assault,” she wrote. She was equally firm about the principle at stake. “Consent, choice and respect for a woman’s body should be basic,” she added, making clear this isn’t something open to interpretation or debate.
Janhvi also situated the incident within a much larger pattern, one where women are constantly negotiating safety, both online and off. According to her, AI-driven abuse is simply adding a new, more insidious layer to threats women already navigate daily.
She didn’t miss the chance to acknowledge those who spoke up in support either, thanking her Devara co-star Jr NTR for his sharp public response to the video. Jr NTR had earlier called the clip “disgusting, sick, and shameless,” pushing for legal action against those responsible. Janhvi also expressed appreciation for Chiranjeevi, Vijay Deverakonda and Khushbu Sundar, all of whom spoke out against the misuse.
This isn’t the first time Janhvi has found herself at the centre of deepfake-related concerns, and her statement makes it clear she sees this as a systemic issue rather than an isolated attack. With AI-generated content becoming harder to detect and faster to spread, her call for stronger accountability and clearer boundaries feels less like a personal complaint and more like a warning the industry, and the internet, needs to hear.
