Amid the release of Collin Gosselin’s memoir, his father, Jon, sat down for an interview with Entertainment Tonight. During the interview, he discussed his six children who are not in contact with him. The 49-year-old shared that he was hopeful that they would understand him and know that he still loves them. Jon also mentioned that he hopes they contact him someday. In his words:
“I hope you understand that I still love you. I hope one day you reach out to me.”
At the same time, he encouraged them to read their brother Collin’s book. The former reality TV star mentioned that he believes it would help them understand some complex aspects of their family history. Jon also asked his children to form their individual opinions and think from different perspectives before they form an opinion.
Jon, who shares eight children with his ex-wife, Kate Gosselin, revealed that he is in contact with only two of his kids. They are Collin and Hannah, both 22. Meanwhile, his other six kids, including twins Mady and Cara, 26, and sextuplets Aaden, Leah, Joel, and Alexis, aged 22, don’t talk to him. Still, he wants to know about their whereabouts. But unfortunately, they are “perfect strangers” to him now.
Jon explained that his distance with Mady and Cara has lasted nearly 13 years. Yet, he does not know why they stopped talking to him. He also said that he hasn’t seen Aaden, Leah, Joel, and Alexis since their last meeting before the COVID-19 pandemic. The family’s strained relationships have now come into the spotlight due to Collin’s new memoir.
In his book, Collin accused his mother, Kate, of child abuse, emotional abuse, and exploitation from when he was a kid. However, Kate denied the allegations. Collin also publicly stated that he is estranged from his siblings and they haven’t been in contact for nearly a decade except Hannah.
Previously, during an interview with Page Six, Collin said that he loves his brothers and sisters. He also wants them to know what he went through as a kid wasn’t normal. He also alleged that the family environment made them distant.
Meanwhile, Kate just gave a TikTok comment, saying her children know who she truly is and nothing else matters to her. However, Jon criticized his former wife over the allegations and mentioned that he believes he has adequate grounds to sue her for defamation and libel.
